Covering stretch marks – Makeup and Hair for Dancers
I have stretch marks from the bottom of my breasts down to mid thigh and they wrap around about my sides and onto my back. I had big children
I have also spent a lot of time in the theatre covering various stretch marks on lots of different people. There are two seperate things to consider, one is change of color and the other is change of texture. Lighter marks that are still smooth and filled out are by far the easiest to cover. A spray tan, even tan in a can will work semi well, not as well as well applied foundation. The spray tans start rubbing and sweating off long before properly applied foundations. Darker stretch marks benefit from a lighter under toning before applying foundation over the top. Btw, I am not talking about liquid foundation makeup, but stage makeup in skin tones.
For anything deep, with a change of texture, spray tans are pretty much useless. And if it is much of a color change, a spray tan won't cover that either, especially not for a sweaty moving performance. Your best bet really is with fabric, not makeup. However, if the mark is not a change in texture, you can use Dermablend. It is expensive stuff, but it works. For a change in texture type of mark, I would recommend both makeup and a mesh tummy cover if you still want to see a belly button. Use a sponge to apply a fairly thick layer of creme stage makeup (Kryloan and Ben Nye are both good), then blend and powder with matching or translucent powder. Brush away excess powder, allow about five minutes to set, and then seal with a sweat proof/water proof sealent such as Final Seal from Ben Nye. Allow that to set before putting on a tummy cover.
I think this has been covered before also, you might type in 'stretch mark' to this tribe's search box.
