ESSENTIAL OILS FOR STRETCH MARKS REMOVAL
Essential oils are concentrated liquids that are extracted from leaves, stems, flowers, bark, and roots of plants and are used for multiple purposes, including cosmetic and medical applications. In many cases, they are a good alternative for those who prefer natural remedies to stay healthy and beautiful. Due to the concentrated composition of essential oils, they should not be used undiluted because of the risk to burn the skin or get an allergy reaction. Instead, they should be combined with base oils before application. The latter are also called vegetable or carrier oils, as they are extracted from fruits, nuts, and seeds of certain plants, and their purpose is to carry essential oils to the skin.
Below is a list of the most effective oils that help remove stretch marks. If pregnant, use these oils ONLY after the first trimester or as marked below.
Essential
- Lavender
- Mandarin
- Neroli
- Geranium
- Rosemary (do not use if you are pregnant)
- Peppermint (do not use if you are pregnant)
- Clove (do not use if you are pregnant)
- Rose (do not use if you are pregnant)
- Patchouli (do not use if you are pregnant)
- Ylang-ylang (if pregnant, use only in the third trimester)
- Petitgrain (if pregnant, use only in the third trimester)
Base
- Olive
- Apricot
- Sesame
- Wheat germ
- Primrose
- Jojoba

To treat stretch marks, blend essential and base oils together and massage them into the skin until fully absorbed. Besides, take dietary supplements or make sure your diet is high in vitamins A, C, E, calcium, selenium, magnesium, zinc, and fatty acids (i.e., primrose oil). These vitamins and minerals will nourish and maintain the skin from inside. If you are unsure about the techniques or effects of using essential or base oils, consult your healthcare provider.

- Blend 1 drop of lavender oil, 2 drops of rosemary oil, 1 drop of lemon oil, 1 drop of melissa oil with 1 tbsp of olive oil
- Blend 2 tbsp sweet almond oil, 1 tbsp wheat germ oil with 5 drops of rose oil, 5 drops of neroli oil, 5 drops of rosemary oil, 5 drops of petitgrain oil and 5 drops of ylang-ylang oil.
- Mix 1 tbsp sweet almond oil with 1 drop of ylang-ylang oil, 1 drop of lemon oil and 6 drops of rosemary or neroli oil.

Remember: the newer your stretch marks are, the more chances you have to remove them with the help of essential oils. Do not delay the treatment! After a year, you may need to use more invasive methods (i.e., chemical peelings or microdermabrasion) to remove stretch marks.
