Stretch Mark Removal Home Remedy
Stretch marks can be defined as lines that have formed on the surface of one’s skin, which have a whitish hue. These kinds of marks are generally found on the lower abdomen, thighs, arms and breasts. Although stretch marks do not pose to be a health hazard in any manner, their appearance can make a person feel conscious and uncomfortable, as they are not aesthetically appeasing to look at.
The medical term for this condition is striae gravidarum. Stretch marks, as the name suggests, are formed when the skin has been made to stretch to a point that is beyond its limit. When this happens, the connective fibers that are present within the dermis ruptures or breaks, giving rise to these unsightly scars.
Initially these scars are purplish or reddish in color, but they fade over a period of time to a discolored off white appearance.
Unfortunately one cannot get rid of stretch marks totally, but their appearance can be reduced by following a few simple home remedies. Empty the contents of four vitamin A capsules and six vitamin E capsules into a bowl. To this you will then need to add a quarter cup of aloe vera gel and half a cup of olive oil. Blend these ingredients well and place the resultant mixture in the refrigerator. This should be applied on to the affected area 2-3 times a day on a regular basis, till marks begin to lighten. The white of an egg can also be applied on to the marks. The protein present in the egg white will nourish the skin and help in reducing the appearance of these lines. Lavender oil is known to be beneficial for this condition. Massage a few drops of the oil onto the affected area several times a day. This remedy if executed in a consistent manner is bound to yield positive results. Castor oil (unscented) will also work well in getting rid of stretch marks. Warm a teaspoon of castor oil and then massage it onto the concerned area. Now, cover the area with the help of plastic wrap. After about 20-25 minutes unwrap the plastic and wash the application off with lukewarm water. Aloe vera gel can also be applied onto the marks 3-4 times a day; it will help in nourishing your skin, while also reducing the appearance of the lines. Similarly, cocoa butter can be applied on the scars 2-3 times a day.
