postheadericon How to prevent cellulite and stretch marks

Up to ninety percent of women will experience stretch marks at some point in their lives. Even more will experience cellulite. These are very common problems, and while they can affect men too, they mainly target women. The solutions for these two pesky problems are seen everywhere. Supermarkets and drug stores are loaded with shelves full of creams and other remedies that claim to rid you of the problem forever. The fact is, there are many preventive actions you can take yourself to prevent them from affecting you. These actions will not only prevent stretch marks and cellulite, they will better your overall health.

Stretch marks can occur anytime, but are mainly associated with pregnancy. The same preventative measures used to prevent them during pregnancy can also help to prevent them other times.

Proper circulation is very important in preventing stretch marks. You will want to drink plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated. This will help increase your circulation. Eight glasses per day is recommended. Another good method to increase circulation is to massage the areas prone to stretch marks. Using your favorite lotion to massage will also help keep your skin hydrated. Keep in mind that the belly isnât the only place a stretch mark can pop up. They can also show up on your arms, thighs, breasts, and buttocks.

Watching your weight will also help prevent stretch marks. If you are pregnant, your doctor should be able to advise you on proper weight gain. Try to stay within the guidelines they give you. You will also want to eat a well balanced diet. Also, donât forget to take your vitamins. They are important too.

postheadericon TOPS: Stretch marks and rash Pregnancy Information

What Are Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks, or striae, occur if you gain more than average weight during your pregnancy or if you have a family history of stretch marks. Ethnicity makes a difference: African-American women are less likely to get stretch marks. For 50-90% of women, pregnancy and stretch marks go hand in hand. Pregnancy stretch marks are also the most common form of stretch marks. Even though they are so common, many women are bothered by them. Luckily there are a number of ways for you to permanently get rid of your stretch marks after pregnancy, including through plastic surgery. Read more about plastic surgery at FemPlace.com.

Prevention
Stretch mark prevention will save you the trouble of getting rid of stretch marks once they've occurred. Stretch marks occur because the collagen and elastin that bind your skin are stressed during weight gain, resulting in tears in your skin's elastic fibers. Typically, on light-skinned women, stretch marks will appear red or pinkish. Darker-skinned women will notice that their stretch marks are lighter than the surrounding skin. They may appear on your abdomen, buttocks, breasts or thighs.

postheadericon Anything I can do to change this?

Stretch marks are basically when the skin is stretched past its normal point and the collagen fibres (a chain of protein that helps bind it all together) is disrupted. Cmmon advice is that stretch marks from a temporary event such as pregnancy will fade in due course once the skin returns to it's normal size. Stretch marks from gaining weight will also fade if the weight is successfully lost (I can vouch personally for this as my brother got stretch marks after putting on weight and has lost them almost completely after a year at the gym.

Similar to acne scarring, laser treatment claims to reduce the appearance, though obviously this is costly. Less successful are over the counter/beauty preparations that use abrasives or moisturisers to reduce the appearance.

Unfortunately, usually the marks will not disappear completely, though they may so faded that they are unnoticeable unless you look specifically for them.

postheadericon Stretch Marks: Guide on How to Prevent and Get Rid of Them

Stretch marks are caused when skin expands in response to sudden weight gain. While skin does stretch to a certain extent, at some point – which is going to vary from person to person – when it is stretched to it's limit the inner layer of skin actually tears. In addition, there can be loss of collagen and elastin in the skin. This underlying layer of skin shows through the upper layers and looks streaked.

At first stretch marks appear as pink or purple lines. These are the result of damaged capillaries. Over time they look white. Stretch marks are the scars of the torn inner layer of skin. Stretch marks are most common on thighs, abdomen, hips, breasts and upper arms. Once stretch marks appear they are extremely difficult to get rid of.

ABSTRACT

Background: Improving the appearance of striae distensae, particularly striae alba, has remained a challenge due to the limited availability of effective and low-risk treatment options. Fractional photothermolysis, a novel concept in skin rejuvenation, has been reported to be effective in the treatment of facial rhytides, acne scars, and surgical scars, but its use in the treatment of striae has not been well studied.

postheadericon Microdermabrasion vs Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels Versus Micro Dermabrasion

I've had a chemical peel (a glycolic peel) three months after my first facial microdermabarasion treatment (after I'd gained some experience with skin rejuvenation). In some ways, peels and microderm abrasions are similar, which is why so many people refer to microderm as a microdermabrasion peel. Microdermabrasion is by nature, a mechanical peel. It uses a stream of crystals (or a diamond tip wand) and suction to gently exfoliate the skin, while chemical peels achieve the same effect using milder or stronger acid solutions. But a peel and microderm don't mix and match.

Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peeling Comparison

This is important: chemical peeling and micro dermabrasion are both resurfacing procedures that exfoliate the skin. Used together, they can cause serious damage to the skin because of the double peeling effect.

postheadericon How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks Fast

Stretch marks are mainly an aesthetic problem, which is particularly annoying during the summer. If you belong to the group of women who suffer from it, then you need to read this article. To understand what caused this problem, you first need to know a few things about the structure of the skin and the mechanism responsible for the creation of stretch marks.

The structure of the skin:

As you may already know, the skin consists of the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous fat. The epidermis is only a thin layer of cells on the skin's surface, which represents a small percentage of its total thickness. The dermis is located between the epidermis and the subcutaneous fat and has a much greater thickness than the epidermis. It contains all the blood vessels and consists mainly of collagen and elastic fibers, which are organized in a structure that looks very much like fabric.
