postheadericon The Truth about Bio Oil

Bio oil claims to be able to treat acne and remove acne scars. It contains a number of beneficial plant based oils and nutrients, but these beneficial ingredients are in a base of Paraffinum Liquidum, which is another name for mineral oil. Mineral oil is a petro-chemical derivative and is harmful to the skin. Putting mineral oil on your skin is like wrapping it in plastic wrap. The skin is not able to absorb nutrients and it can't detoxify, which renders the beneficial ingredients ineffective and results in premature aging. Several other unpronounceable ingredients in Bio oil are known allergens and respiratory, skin and eye irritants. It also contains BHT, which may cause cancer, reproductive defects, and is harmful if swallowed. Customer reviews have been mixed. Some said the product improved their acne and some said it irritated there skin and made their acne worse.

The best way to treat acne and acne scars is with an effective all-natural formulation. Salicylic acid, a registered ingredient with the FDA for the prevention and treatment of acne. It is the ideal choice for acne. It is a BHA, or a beta hydroxy acid. Not only will this kill bacteria, but it will break down accumulated dead skin cells that clog the pores and create long term acne. The best way to use salicylic acid is in an incapsulated form. This ensures that it is going to be beneficial to the skin underneath the surface. So you are not only treating the skin from the surface, you’re going into the pores and you’re able to treat it much further down in the stratum corneum.

To receive the maximum benefits to the skin, salicylic acid should be used in a formulation. Ingredients used will have been proven over time to help with irritation, bacteria, and inflamation. Topically, vitamin A (formula should contain vitamin A from beta carotene to avoid toxic levels of vitamin A) is great as an antioxidant. It helps to protect and nourish cells. Internally vitamin A is wonderful because it helps with the sebum production. Zinc is an excellent anti-microbial both internally and externally. It also has powerful healing properties. There have been several scientific studies done on zinc applied externally and how it improves wound healing time.

Products to be taken together internally: Alfalfa, licorice, and mulberry, all have anti-inflammatory properties. They’ve been used for centuries to help with inflammation. L-lysine helps with skin eruptions, such as cold sores, acne blemishes and other eruptions on the skin. Scientific studies have shown that when L-lysine is taken orally it really can help with different types of blemishes skin problems. Yellow dock, burdock, and sarsaparilla have been used for centuries to help with different skin conditions, especially acne. They really help to balance the body internally.

Any natural formulation is going to take a while to work because building up the body's defense mechanisms takes time. So generally four to six weeks, six to eight weeks, that’s when most people start to see results. Of course some people may see them sooner, some may see them a little bit later, but that’s generally how long it’s going to take before you’ll see results. Although it takes longer, it is more effective and will give you long term results.

There has been a lot of scientific studies done on chocolate, caffeine and greasy foods. These types of foods really don't cause acne. What can cause acne is alleries to certain foods. For instance, many people are sensitive to dairy products. You need to know your body, and you need to listen to your body. And if you break out when you eat these types of foods, obviously you’re sensitive to these foods. And these types of foods can cause acne. But the typical greasy meals, the high caffeine, the chocolate, these types of food are not going to cause acne.
